Sara is proof that at any given moment, a life can change. For most of her life, she lived outdoors at the end of a chain. She was one of more than 100 dogs living on a rural property in North Carolina. We took Sara and two other senior dogs from the North Carolina group that had been working to find homes for all the dogs.
At my home, Sara quickly learned all about indoor living, soft dog beds, softer human beds, treats and affection. She also learned to smile, and she recovered from a case of pneumonia. Then Saturday she went to her first adoption event and met Tom, who adopted from us in the past. Tom's dog, Dawson, had died two weeks earlier. He was now ready to give another dog a new home.
Lucky Sara. My how her life has changed. Tom send me an email and a new picture of Sara at his home. Tom's message, "Sara is doing great. She eats well and every time I look at her she wags her tail. And she also wags her tail the whole time she eats. :) And she loves laying in the backyard chewing on rawhide treats." And here she is.
Sara wasn't the only dog finding a home.
Cabot, a senior Pekingese, was adopted by his foster mom. That's his sweet face above. We found him in the Jefferson County Animal Control.
Isis, the Shih Tzu I took from the St. Louis City Pound only a few days ago, found her new home. This afternoon I received a phone call telling me Isis was fitting in beautifully.
Murray (above), a puppy from a southern Missouri shelter, also found his home. And we placed six dogs that were among those we rescued from a large puppymill that was shutting down. So congratulations also to Skyler, Rogue, Zeke, Boo, Frankie, and Harley....all candidates for world's cutest puppy honors. They will now spend the rest of their lives as pets.
While at the Kirkwood Petco Saturday, we saw Samson and Tippy, who were adopted last week and came by the say hello.
We're already talking about next weekend. We'll be at the Petsmart in Arnold on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, from 11 to 3. And we'll be back again on Saturday at the Kirkwood Petco.
