The St. Louis Senior Dog
is a not-for-profit dog rescue organization specializing in older dogs
but taking in and finding homes for dogs of all ages and even a few
cats. See our adoptable
pets and come
and meet and adopt next weekend. We'll have dogs at the Arnold
Petsmart 3 to 8 Friday and 11 to 3 Saturday and Sunday. We'll also have
dogs at the Bridgeton Petsmart 11 to 3 Saturday.
Sometimes I feel foolish. I wanted to sleep in this morning -- maybe all the way till 7:30. What ended that plan? A slimy red ball pushed into my face by an over eager black lab mix. That would be Bubba Jr.
I tried to ignore it, pushing the offensive ball off the bed. It returned, dropped once more in front of my nose. Bubba panted and whined to emphasize his message.
Ok. Ok. Can I get dressed first?
As I said, sometimes I feel foolish -- outwitted by a dog. It happens all the time. But I do think Bubba looks a little foolish in the above picture too. By the way, he's otherwise a great dog! He's good with other dogs of all sizes, cats, children. You name it. And boy does he know how to fetch!
Another time I felt foolish was at our last Crazy Bowl fundraiser. Rules of the game required that at one point I had to hop on one foot while trying to bowl. Not only did I feel foolish, I looked pretty foolish too.
But it was for a good cause, and before long I'll be doing it again. The St. Louis Senior Dog Project and Stray Rescue of St. Louis will hold a joint Crazy Bowl Fundraiser Saturday, July 24 at Show Me Lanes, 4575 Lemay Ferry Rd. Cost is $25 per person or $150 for a team of Six. Doors open at 7 p.m. bowling begins at 8 p.m.
Please join me and other who don't mind a little silliness for a good cause.
