The St. Louis Senior Dog Project is a not-for-profit dog rescue organization specializing in older dogs but taking in and finding homes for dogs of all ages...even puppies. See our adoptable dogs Here. We will have dogs at Kirkwood Petco, I-44 and Lindbergh, 11 to 3 both Saturday and Sunday.
We still have funding available to cover the adoption fees for a few more senior citizens adopting senior dogs. That's senior citizens 60 plus years adopting dogs 7 plus years.
Until a couple weeks ago, Rebel and Yeller enjoyed a privileged life. They had a human who loved them, and they had each other. They didn't worry much about their senior years.
That all ended when their human died of a massive heart attack, and they ended up in the local animal control. Depending on whom you ask, they are either both nine years old or Rebel is younger by a few years. They are both labrador retrievers -- a type known as "pointing retrievers." They are friendly, still- active dogs, good with children, adults and other animals. But they are on the senior side, and they would like to stay together. In addition, Yeller takes an inexpensive medicine to prevent seizures.
We'd like to help -- but first we need a foster or adoptive home that will take both of them. We'll settle for two homes, but we're aiming at keeping them together. Before we can help Yeller and Rebel, we need your help. Does someone out there have room for this pair either temporarily or permanently?
