Muttley...easily found her new home.
I love talking about conventional wisdom, and then pointing out how often it lacks either covention or wisdon. Conventional wisdom would say you can't find homes for 11 year old dogs.
But on Sunday, Muttley (above) went to her new home after being with us for less than a week. We have young dogs that stay with us for month sometimes, and here goes Muttley right out the door. Turns out that the vet clinic that had been seeing Muttley for 10 years had something to do with it. They were all distressed that Muttley ended up in Jefferson County Animal Control after her owner died. Then all were even more distressed when no one in her owner's family came to offer Muttley a home. They thought about it awhile and called up a client whose dad had recently lost his dog. Did he by any chance want another old dog?
Yes he did. And Muttley found a home.
We had other adoptions this week too.
The youngster Gilligan was among those finding homes.
And so was Roxy, a rat terrier who'd been with us several months.
And Gonzo....another who took longer than I would have expected.
Others adopted were Sneakers, Chloe and Sienna. Sienna was the dog who was left at a vet clinic because she was sick and the new owner didn't want to pay for getting her better. We took over and she's now doing fine.
So today I took a yellow lab mix and a Lhasa Apso out of Jefferson County Animal Control. We also took in some puppies. And we have several adoptions pending.
