The St. Louis Senior Dog  Project is a not-for-profit dog  rescue  organization specializing in older   dogs but taking in and finding homes for dogs of all ages...even   puppies.  Meet your new best friend  11 to 3 Saturday, May 2, in the Kirkwood Petco.      A couple weeks ago I wrote a blog titled "What's Wrong with Coco?"  I couldn't believe that no one seemed interested in this almost perfect dog.  After all, she was cuddly, friendly, housebroken and a lot of fun.  Someone suggested that maybe Coco was a little too plain for most people.

    Maryanne read my blog and decided to see for herself.  She came, she saw, she pronounced Coco "beautiful" and she adopted her.  Happy ending.

`    Another dog who's waiting too long to find her new home is Montana, a senior rat terrier mix whose former owner entered a nursing home.  She also found her new home this weekend.  Here's Montana.

    Of course, when we adopt out dogs, we take new ones in.  One of our newest is Moritz, an English Shepherd or shepherd/collie we found in Jefferson County Animal Control.  He is one handsome 3-year-old boy.  See for yourself.

    Next week we'll also be taking in a number of small dogs from a puppy mill--shih tzus, poodles, yorkies, morkies and chihuahuas.  These dogs will now be able to live the rest of their lives as pets.  Stay tuned.

Help STL Senior Dog Project on May 5 Give STL Day

       The big day is almost here.

        On May 5, we'll be joining hundreds of community foundations across the country for a 24-hour online giving event that motivates people to help the nonprofits they care about most.

        I certainly hope we are one of those you care about most.

        People can start donating just after midnight May 5 and on through the day and night until May 6 arrives.

          This might turn out to be the biggest fundraising day of our year.

            Your donation will help dogs such as these:

            Josie is a 6 or 7 year old chihuahua mix whose elderly owner turned her into a shelter.

Olaf is a sweet old boy who came back to us from an adoption because he kept going through the electric fence.

Nala has several people interested in adopting her.  She came from a family that could not afford to take care of her.

Montana's owner went into a nursing home.

We hope they will all go to their new homes soon.
